Bubogu Holistic Project almost complete!

We are very excited to let you all know that the work on the Big Give Campaign funded project in Bubogu is nearing completion.

A borehole was drilled at the local primary school, providing the school and the community – approximately 1600 people – with access to clean water for the first time. Women and children no longer must walk kilometres to fetch safe water, enabling children more time to spend at school.

Drinking water containers were delivered to each classroom so children can stay hydrated during the school day, knowing the water is clean.

The boys’ latrine has been renovated, and a girls’ latrine and washroom has been built.  Older girls now have the privacy to manage their menstrual hygiene and are more likely to stay in school.

Training in hygiene and sanitation has been provided to the school and community.  A Water Committee has been set up and trained in water point management and the Hygiene Club has been set up at the school.

The materials for sanplat making to help reduce the problem of open defecation have been delivered and all that remains is the onsite casting demonstration.

A big thank you to the Big Give and to everyone who contributed to the campaign in December for making this possible.
