Namantooke Holistic Project in Uganda to Go Ahead

Namantooke Holistic Project in Uganda to Go Ahead

We are delighted to announce that the Randal Foundation is supporting our new holistic project in Namantooke, Uganda, enabling 1,335 people to access clean water for the first time. For years, the community of Namantooke has depended on a shallow, contaminated well - a daily struggle that’s led to illness, lost school days and countless hours spent collecting unsafe water.

Our new holistic project will change that. A borehole will be installed at the local school, giving pupils and community members year-round access to safe, clean water. With water close at hand, girls will spend less time fetching it and more time in class.

To complement the new water source, the project will renovate existing latrines and construct a new girls’ latrine with a washroom, ensuring privacy and dignity especially during menstruation. A community sanitation program will empower families to build their own latrines using locally made sanplats, helping to eliminate open defecation.

Through hygiene and handwashing training, and the creation of a school hygiene club, both children and adults will gain lifelong healthy habits. Sustainability is at the heart of this initiative: local labour will be used, residents will be trained to maintain the systems, and a Water Committee will oversee their long-term management.

This project will transform daily life by improving health, education, and equality and laying the foundation for a healthier, more resilient community.
A big thank you to the Randal Foundation for once again believing in our life-changing work.
