Kafumbe School in a remote area of Northern Zambia now has a solar powered water system bringing water to taps including two mass handwashing stations.
The primary school only had one hand pump providing water for 1043 pupils. Having taps for handwashing, drinking, cleaning and gardening makes a huge difference. A shower room was also built for older girls to help them to stay in school when they have their periods. In addition the project provides water points for 840 people living nearby. This impactful project cost £7,350.
Adequate safe water leads to improved health and better school attendance.
